Course Aim
This course offers the best preparation for a successful career as a live sound engineer. Leaving the course you will be confident, skilled and ready to work in a Professional Live Sound Environment.
Learning
These are the most comprehensive live sound courses available. Theory is backed by ample practical hands-on sessions. Students will develop skills in sound assessement and will learn about signal paths and setting equalisation for instruments, speakers and sound systems. Live Sound Recording to HD is also covered.
Students will become skilled in both front of house mixing (mixing speakers directed to the audience) and monitor mixing (mixing on-stage speakers used by bands to monitor their sound). Live bands perform exclusively for the students throughout the course, with tutors closely monitoring and assessing areas of development.
These courses cover all the aspects needed to operate a Pro Tools system within a Live Mixing environment. This includes configuration, operation, mixing techniques and record/playback with Pro Tools systems. Starting with setting up and configuring your'e Pro Tools Session, understanding plugins, external interfaces and controllers. Then mixing, using sends and returns, plug ins, master faders and groups.
You will spend time on both Analogue and Digital Consoles such as Soundcraft, Midas, Pre Sonus, Yamaha and others. Also some of the biggest companies in Live Sound bringing there mixing desks in for you to learn and use.
At various points in the course you will have specialised lectures in Elecrical Health and Safety, PA Set Up, and Touring from Industry Professionals.
No prior sound engineering knowledge is required.
Running these courses in the Central London venue "Scala" gives students first hand experience in running shows from a 1300 capacity venue, which is used by the worlds best artists every day!
